Broken Brass Whistle

Near the beginning of my career as a teacher, I decided to splurge on a nice brass whistle, the England made Acme Thunderer, which I've been carrying around on my keychain for several years. I use it almost every school day.

During the end of recess, I discovered that the whistle barely worked. Looking at it in more detail, I discovered that the soldering of the whistle came loose.

I am a man of sentiments. Yes, I could just use a cheap 50¢ made in China whistle that is provided free by the school, but something about discarding such a well-used and serviceable whistle bothers me.

My plan is to take it to a jeweler and pay them to solder it for me.
